Iraqi Officials: At Least 30 Killed in Car Bomb Attack

VOA, September 13, 2008

Iraqi officials say at least 30 people have been killed and more than 40 others wounded in a car bomb attack on a police station in a Shi'ite town north of Baghdad.

Friday's attack in Dujail in Salahuddin province occurred when many people were on the streets just before the breaking of the fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Some of the victims were policemen.

No one has claimed responsibility, but the attack resembled similar bombings carried out by al-Qaida in Iraq.

In other news, the U.S. military says Iraqi and coalition forces have killed two terrorists and detained 13 suspects during operations targeting al-Qaida in Iraq.
